Who is eligible for STS? Miami-Dade County residents whose physical or mental disability prevents them from using accessible public transportation (Metrobus, Metrorail, or Metromover) independently. Miami-Dade County residents with temporary disabilities are eligible for STS during the period of their disability.
The Transportation Disadvantaged Program is a coordinated state-wide effort that groups riders together for a shared ride service. Transportation services are available in all 67 Florida counties for those who are eligible and have no access to transportation.
The STS online course for bus drivers includes the 20 hours of classroom training mandated by the State of Florida's Department of Education (DOE). Students enrolled in the program are able to complete their required classroom training topics within the total flexibility afforded by the STS online system.
