The Civil Court has monetary jurisdiction up to $50,000.00, including replevin when the value of the chattel does not exceed that amount.
Rule 6. Form of Papers. (a) All papers submitted to the Commercial Division shall not be inconsistent with CPLR 2101 and section 202.5(a) of this Part. Papers shall be double-spaced and contain print no smaller than 12 point, or 8½ × 11 inch paper, bearing margins no smaller than one inch.

In order to avoid a default, the Defendant must respond upon being served with either the summons with notice or the summons and complaint within the applicable time frame. These deadlines are found in CPLR §320(a) and are 20 or 30 days depending on how service was made.
The monetary threshold for cases in Kings County Commercial Division has been raised from $50,000.00 to $75,000.00.
You Can Lose By Default: If you don't file a response 30 days after you were served, the Plaintiff can file a form called “Request for Default”. The Plaintiff has to wait 30 days to file this. If the Plaintiff files this form, the Court can enter a judgment against you. The Plaintiff will win the case.
