To take out a 50B, you must have a personal relationship with the defendant. This personal relationship is often a family member, a member of your household, or someone you are in a romantic relationship with. 50Cs are against a defendant with whom no such relationship exists.
The restraining order itself has an expiration date. So if you have a copy of the order you would know. If you do not have a copy then you can go to the courthouse where the case is being handled and ask to look at the court file or ask to get a copy of the order.

Although you can access these online, your local clerk's office should also have copies for you to fill out there as well.
