On March 18, 1766, George III approved Parliament's repeal of the Stamp Act and its passage of the Declaratory Act.

3. The Declaratory Act raised no taxes or duties and imposed no new measures on the colonies. For this reason, the colonial response to it was largely indifferent.

British merchants and manufacturers pressured Parliament because their exports to the colonies were threatened by boycotts.
