What are Safe Schools? School safety is a critical contributor to positive student, teacher, and school-level outcomes. Schools are safe when all students, teachers, and staff can thrive in a welcoming environment that supports learning, health and well-being, and positive relationships.

The districtwide school safety plan and building level emergency response plan are intended to define how each school district and all the buildings in the district will respond to acts of violence and other disasters thorough prevention, intervention, emergency response and management.

2.1 Whenever a staff member becomes aware that a student may have engaged in an activity described in sections 306(1) or 310(1) of the Education Act, the incident must be reported to the principal of the school by completing “Part I” of a Safe Schools Incident Reporting Form in eBase.

Safety schools are colleges where you have a greater than 70% chance of acceptance. Having test scores better than the 75th percentile of students is a good indicator that a college is a safety school.

This legislation is now known as the Safety and Violence Education (SAVE) Students Act. Students in grades 6 through 12 to receive at least one hour or one standard class period per school year of evidence-based instruction in social inclusion.
