Established by Congress in 1981, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit has jurisdiction over federal cases originating in the states of Alabama, Florida and Georgia. The circuit includes nine district courts with each state divided into Northern, Middle and Southern Districts.
Broward County's 17th Judicial Circuit is one of 20 judicial circuits in Florida. County Court handles civil cases under $15,000, traffic cases and misdemeanors.

Located in the heart of central Florida, the Fifth Judicial Circuit covers a geographical area approaching the size of Connecticut. The circuit is comprised of Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties, with main administrative offices in Ocala.
Located in the Florida Panhandle, the 2nd Judicial Circuit encompasses Leon, Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty, and Wakulla counties.
