Jurors are obligated to remain 'on call' for jury service up to two (2) weeks. During that time, they may be called to serve on a jury. Jurors normally serve from 9AM to 5PM.
You may request to be excused from jury service you if fall into one of the categories below. You are 75 years of age or older. You have served as a juror in the same county within the last three years. You believe that you will suffer a severe financial hardship. You have a medical inability to serve as a juror.
In most cases, jurors are allowed to go home after court proceedings each day. However, there are situations where jurors may be sequestered, meaning they are kept in a hotel or other designated location away from outside influences, especially in high-profile cases.
Therefore, jurors are requested to dress in a manner that is respectful to the litigants and the court. You may wear comfortable but appropriate business-like clothing. Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, tank tops and sweatshirts should not be worn.
If you are selected to serve on a trial, you must remain for the duration of jury selection and the trial. Once your service is completed, you will not be eligible to be selected again for three years.
