The Town of Hempstead created and adopted the unique Golden Age Zoning district to allow affordable housing for senior citizens in a public/private partnership. The Golden Age zone classification promotes senior housing by permitting the construction of more units per area than normally allowed.
The Community Services for the Elderly program provides community-based, supportive services to frail, low-income older adults who need assistance to maintain their independence at home.
EISEP assists older people (aged 60 and older) who need help with everyday activities to take care of themselves (such as dressing, bathing, personal care, shopping, and cooking), want to remain at home, and are not eligible for Medicaid.

How do you find a geriatric social worker who can help? Check with your county or city Area Agency on Aging or your state board of social workers. You can also ask your doctor or other care providers. If you use hospice services, they have their own social workers.
