The sum of the raw scores on the written section (MPT/Essay) is then converted to the 200-point MBE scale. The sum of these 2 scaled scores must be 270 or more to pass. Applicants with a combined score between 265 and 269 will have their MPT questions and essays automatically re-graded.
Georgia Bar Exam Format You will have three hours to answer the two MPT questions. You will have three hours to answer four Georgia essay questions. The Multistate Bar Exam (“MBE”) is administered on the second day of the Georgia bar exam. The MBE is a multiple-choice test containing 200 questions.
MBE and written scores are scaled and combined to determine if a minimum passing score of 270 was achieved. A minimum MBE score of 115 must be achieved.
The written components— the Multistate Essay Exam and the Multistate Performance Test—make up the remainder of your score. A good rule of thumb is that you'll need to answer about 66% of the graded MBE questions correctly to pass the bar exam, assuming you perform reasonably well on the other components.
