Rule 15 Admission to the Bar Upon motion made in open court by an active member of the State Bar of Michigan, the court may enter an order admitting such applicant to the bar of this state.

(15) An applicant has the burden of proving by clear and convincing evidence that he or she has the current good moral character and general fitness to warrant admission to the bar.

An applicant need not have graduated from law school in order to take the MPRE and the MPRE may be taken an unlimited number of times. An applicant for admission must obtain a satisfactory score on the Michigan bar examination, or be eligible for admission without examination.

This regulation establishes standards to conduct drug and alcohol testing authorized in rule 2-7. A classified employee shall not do any of the following: (a) Consume alcohol or use drugs while on duty. (b) Report to duty or be on duty with a prohibited level of alcohol or drugs present in the employee's bodily fluids.

Michigan Bar Exam Scoring and Grading Michigan's minimum passing score is 268. Since the UBE is divided into 2 equally weighted sections — writing (MPT/MEE) and the MBE — you should aim for a 134 on each section. However, you do not need to score 268 on each section to pass the Michigan Bar Exam.

Prior to admission by examination, an applicant must pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE). The current passing scaled score is 85. Arrangements to take the MPRE must be made directly with the Multistate Bar Examination Committee of the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
