A private school is a school not administered or funded by the government, unlike a public school. Private schools (also known as 'independent schools') are schools that are not dependent upon national or local government to finance their financial endowment.
Title III funds may not be used to finance the existing level of instruction in a private school. Services must supplement, not supplant, the federal, state, or local funds the private school would otherwise offer absent the Title III program.
The data submitted on the Private School Affidavit (PSA) is used by the CDE to create a directory of private schools. It is also used by a number of state and federal agencies that provide programs and services to children and families in California and for other reporting needs.
If you need to file your affidavit and cannot do so electronically, you have two choices. First, you may request a paper PSA from the state. To receive a paper PSA, e-mail privateschools@cde.ca or call (916) 445-7331. Secondly, CHN has developed a “Statement in Lieu” that has been accepted by the CDE.
