Civil No Contact Order-Modification Order

An Illinois Civil No Contact Order-Modification Order is a court order issued in the state of Illinois that prohibits a person from having contact with another individual. This order can be issued to protect a victim of harassment, stalking, or any other form of domestic violence. There are three types of Illinois Civil No Contact Order-Modification Orders: Temporary Order of Protection, Interim Order of Protection, and Plenary Order of Protection. A Temporary Order of Protection is issued for up to 21 days, and can be extended or modified if necessary. An Interim Order of Protection is issued until a court hearing is held and can also be modified. A Plenary Order of Protection is issued after the court hearing and is in effect for a specified amount of time. All Illinois Civil No Contact Order-Modification Orders include provisions such as prohibiting contact with the victim, requiring the respondent to stay away from the victim’s residence or place of employment, and prohibiting the respondent from possessing firearms.
