The Virginia Assembly approved legislation that became effective , that allows locally elected organizations (like the FCPS School Board) to enact a resolution to create collective bargaining agreements with employee groups. The FCPS School Board voted in February 2020 to initiate the process.

Recess shall be provided in two segments, as practicable, with one of the recess segments being at least 15 minutes in length. Students will participate in daily outdoor recess, weather permitting. minimum total of 15 minutes in length in one segment.
