Child Support in Maryland

It is a child's right to receive support from both parents even if they are divorced, separated or had never been married. It is the courts requirement that the non-custodial parent make payments to the custodial parent until the child is no longer a minor. The support is calculated from the combined adjusted actual income of both parents. Payments for child support will be terminated when the child reaches the age of 18 or 19 if the student is still attending high school, or if the child becomes emancipated.
