A Washington Motion for Immediate Restraining Order (Ex Parte) is a legal action taken by one party, without notifying the other party, to prevent further harm or injury. It is a court order which prohibits a person from doing certain acts, such as harassment, abuse, or threats. It may also order the respondent to stay away from the petitioner or their home, work, or school. Types of Washington Motion for Immediate Restraining Order (Ex Parte) include Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVP), Anti-Harassment Orders (AHO), and Sexual Assault Protection Orders (SAP). A DVP is issued to protect a person from physical and/or sexual violence, threats, or stalking. An AHO is issued to protect a person from physical and/or verbal harassment. And a SAP is issued to protect a person from sexual assault.
