Virginia Publication Affidavit and Order for Civil is a form used in civil litigation in the Commonwealth of Virginia in order to give notice of a lawsuit to parties who cannot be served personally. It allows the court to enter an order directing that notice of the lawsuit be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the area in which the defendant resides. The affidavit must be completed by a party to the lawsuit, or their attorney, and must include the names of the parties, a summary of the complaint, and an order for publication. There are two types of Virginia Publication Affidavit and Order for Civil: one for individuals and one for corporations. The individual form is used when the defendant’s identitInonunobuttut it is impossible to serve them personally. The corporate form is used when the defendant is an organization or unincorporated association and cannot be served through its agents or officers.
