Utah Possession of an Altered or Forged Prescription or Written Order is a Class B misdemeanor offense. This offense involves the unlawful possession of an altered or forged prescription or written order for a drug or controlled substance. This offense is considered a drug crime and can have serious repercussions if convicted. There are two types of Utah Possession of an Altered or Forged Prescription or Written Order: (1) possession of an altered or forged prescription or written order for a drug or controlled substance with the intent to use the prescription or written order; and (2) possession of an altered or forged prescription or written order for a drug or controlled substance for the purpose of selling, delivering, bartering, or trading the prescription or written order. Penalties for this offense may include fines, jail time, community service, and/or probation.
