18 U.S.C. Sec. 1543 is a federal law that describes the elements of the crime of forgery of a passport. This law states that a person is guilty of forgery of a passport if they knowingly make or alter any passport with the intent to commit fraud or a felony. This includes any of the following acts: making or altering a passport, falsely making a passport, counterfeiting or simulating a passport, or causing or procuring a passport to be falsely made, counterfeited, or simulated.
