18 U.S.C. Sec. 1030(A)(1) Obtaining Information from Computer Injurious to the United States is a federal law that criminalizes computer-related offenses that are harmful to the United States. The law prohibits anyone from intentionally accessing, obtaining, attempting to access, or attempting to obtain a computer, computer system, or network without authorization or exceeding authorized access, and obtaining, altering, damaging, destroying, or causing the loss of any information or data that is considered injurious to the United States.
