18 U.S.C. Sec. 1029(A)(3) POSSESSION OF MULTIPLE UNAUTHORIZED OR COUNTERFEIT ACCESS DEVICES is a federal law which prohibits the possession of two or more unauthorized or counterfeit access devices. This law applies to any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud possesses two or more access devices that were made or altered without the authorization of the issuer, or two or more counterfeit access devices. Access devices in this context include, but are not limited to, credit cards, debit cards, automated teller machine cards, and any other device used to obtain money, goods, services, or any other thing of value. Violation of this law carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of $250,000.
