2.82 Interstate Transportation of Stolen Property 18 U.S.C. Sec. 2314 (First Paragraph) is a federal statute that makes it a crime to transport stolen goods or property across state lines. This includes items that have been stolen, embezzled, or converted from another person or entity. There are two types of interstate transportation of stolen property under this statute: knowing transportation and willful transportation. Knowing transportation of stolen property occurs when an individual knowingly transports or causes to be transported stolen property across state lines. Willful transportation of stolen property occurs when an individual willfully transports or causes to be transported stolen property across state lines with the intent to defraud or commit another criminal offense. Both of these acts are punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison and/or a fine.
