Lease of Permanent Berthing Space is a long-term agreement between a marina operator and a boat owner that guarantees a reserved area of water at a marina for a boat to stay. The boat owner pays a fee, usually in advance, for the right to use that space. Depending on the type of marina and its facilities, the fee may include additional services such as electricity, water, or parking. There are two types of Lease of Permanent Berthing Space: short-term and long-term. Short-term leases are usually monthly or annual agreements, while long-term leases are typically 3 to 5 years in length. In both cases, the boat owner is responsible for the upkeep of their vessel, including routine maintenance and mooring fees. Both types of leases also require the boat owner to obtain liability insurance to cover any potential damages or losses.
