A South Carolina Affidavit of Service by Mail (Answer) is a legal document used to provide proof of service of a document by mail to another person. The Affidavit may be used to prove service of any type of document, including a summons and complaint, a court order, or a notice of hearing. There are two types of South Carolina Affidavit of Service by Mail (Answer): an Affidavit of Service by Regular Mail and an Affidavit of Service by Certified Mail. The Affidavit of Service by Regular Mail must include the date the document was mailed, the name and address of the person to whom the document was mailed, and a statement that the document was mailed by ordinary first-class mail. The Affidavit of Service by Certified Mail must include the same information as the Regular Mail Affidavit, as well as the date the document was received by the person to whom it was mailed. The Affidavit must also include a statement that the document was mailed by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested.
