South Carolina DESTRUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES is the process of demolishing, dismantling, or disposing of a motor vehicle in a manner approved by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SC DMV). There are several methods of destruction of motor vehicles in South Carolina, including: crushing, shredding, burning, or chemical destruction. The process of destruction must be undertaken by an authorized dismantled who has been certified by the SC DMV. All destroyed vehicles must be reported to the SC DMV and the dismantled must retain the certificate of destruction. All parts and components of the destroyed vehicle must be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner.
