A Pennsylvania Petition For Probation Without Verdict (also referred to as POV) is a legal procedure that allows an individual to petition the court for a period of probation without a criminal conviction or sentence. Under the POV, the accused is placed on probation for a certain period of time and, if all the terms and conditions of the probation are met, the charges will be dismissed and the accused will not have a criminal record. There are two types of Pennsylvania Petition For Probation Without Verdict: adult and juvenile. The adult POV is available for individuals who are 18 years of age or older, while the juvenile POV is for individuals under the age of 18. In both cases, the petition must be filed with the court and the accused must be found eligible by a judge. If approved, the accused must comply with all the terms and conditions of the probation, such as attending counseling or therapy sessions, performing community service, and/or paying restitution, before the charges are dismissed.
