New York Direct Entry Certification Investigation Request by Union or Employee(s) (Private Sector) is a formal request to the New York State Department of Labor to investigate the certification status of a union or employee(s) in the private sector. The request is typically initiated by a union or employee to ensure that the labor organization or individual is properly certified and in compliance with state labor laws. This type of investigation is conducted to ensure that a union or employee is legally entitled to represent and/or negotiate on behalf of its members, and to make sure that the union or employee is acting within the scope of its authority. The New York State Department of Labor offers two types of Direct Entry Certification Investigation Requests: Private Sector Investigations and Public Sector Investigations. Private Sector Investigations are initiated by a union or employee to investigate the certification status of a union or employee in the private sector. Public Sector Investigations are initiated by the New York State Department of Labor to investigate the certification status of a union or employee in the public sector.
