Missouri Chapter 441 — ImmediatPossessionio— - Drugs and/or Violence is a state law that allows police officers to immediately take possession of a person's property if they believe it was used to commit a drug or violent offense. This law also allows police officers to immediately take possession of any property, real or personal, located on or near the premises where the crime was committed. There are three types of Missouri Chapter 441 — ImmediatPossessionio— - Drugs and/or Violence: (1) Immediate Possession and Seizure, (2) Forfeiture, and (3) Disposition of Property. Under Immediate Possession and Seizure, police officers are empowered to take possession of any property which appears to be related to a drug or violent offense. Forfeiture allows the State to keep any property that is determined to have been used in the commission of a drug or violent offense, and the Disposition of Property regulates how seized property can be sold or otherwise disposed of.
