Maryland Uniform Civil Citation (MUCH) — Sample is a sample of a citation issued by the State of Maryland to a person or entity that has been found in violation of a civil code or ordinance. It is a form of alternative to the traditional court process and is often used as a way to resolve minor civil offenses without the need for jail time. There are three types of MUCH — Sample: 1) Violation Notice; 2) Notice of Withdrawal of Charges; and 3) Notice of Conviction. The Violation Notice is issued when a violation has been observed or reported, and the Notice of Withdrawal of Charges is issued when the alleged offense is determined to be unfounded. The Notice of Conviction is issued when the alleged violation is found to be true and a conviction is entered.
