An Illinois Interim Fee Award Order is a court order issued by the court that sets a fee for attorneys to be paid by the parties in a legal dispute. This type of order is issued during the course of a case and before a final award is entered. The Interim Fee Award Order is based on the estimated value of the case, the court’s assessment of the complexity of the case and the workload that the attorneys have already completed. There are two types of Illinois Interim Fee Award Orders. The first is a lump sum order, which requires the parties to pay the attorney’s fees in one lump sum. The second is a periodic-payment order, which requires the parties to pay the attorney’s fees in installments.
