The Georgia Affidavit of Indigence is a legal form that is used to demonstrate to the court that an individual cannot afford the costs associated with a civil suit. It is a sworn statement that outlines an individual’s financial status and is used to determine if a person is eligible for legal aid or other forms of assistance. There are two types of Georgia Affidavit of Indigence: an original affidavit and an amended affidavit. The original affidavit is used to demonstrate an individual's financial status prior to the start of the court proceedings. The amended affidavit is used to demonstrate an individual's financial hardships that have occurred since the start of the court proceedings. Both of these forms must be signed and notarized and must include proof of income, assets, and liabilities.
