A District of Columbia Notice of Appeal (Criminal Case) is a document that is filed with the District of Columbia Court of Appeals by a defendant who wishes to challenge a criminal conviction or sentence. The Notice of Appeal must be filed within 30 days of the date of judgment or within 10 days of the entry of an amended judgment. The Notice of Appeal must state the grounds for the appeal and provide a copy of the judgment or order to be appealed. There are two types of District of Columbia Notice of Appeal (Criminal Case): direct appeals and interlocutory appeals. Direct appeals are filed when a defendant is appealing a final judgment of conviction or sentence. Interlocutory appeals are filed when a defendant is appealing an interlocutory ruling or order, such as a suppression motion.
