Arizona Cancellation of Certificate is a legal process through which a certificate of title issued by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOPT) is cancelled. The cancellation of a certificate of title can happen for a variety of reasons, such as a change of ownership, a lien being released, a vehicle being totaled, or a vehicle being declared a total loss. There are two types of Arizona Cancellation of Certificate: voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary cancellation involves the voluntary surrender of a title by the owner, such as when a vehicle is sold or traded in. Involuntary cancellation involves a court order or other legal action that requires the cancellation of a title. In either case, the ADOPT will issue a new certificate of title that reflects the change in ownership or other details.
