The Arizona Notice of Request for Post-Conviction Relief is a document used in the state of Arizona to initiate the post-conviction review process. It is a formal request for a hearing in front of a judge to review the conviction and/or sentence of an individual who has already been convicted of a crime. This document must be filled out completely in order to be accepted by the court. There are two types of Arizona Notice of Request for Post-Conviction Relief: Direct Review and Rule 32. Direct Review is a request for a post-conviction review hearing that is filed directly with the court. Rule 32 is a request to have the state court review the conviction and/or sentence. The Rule 32 form is used when the defendant was represented by legal counsel at the time of the conviction or when the defendant believes they were denied effective assistance of counsel.
