Arizona Severance of Parental Rights is a legal process in which a court permanently terminates the rights of the parent-child relationship, essentially ending the legal relationship between a parent and their child. This process, also known as termination of parental rights, can be voluntary or involuntary. Voluntary severance of parental rights is when a parent willingly decides to relinquish their parental rights. Involuntary severance of parental rights is when a court decides to take away a parent’s rights. This usually happens in cases of abuse, neglect or abandonment. In Arizona, a child can be permanently placed in a new home with a new family through adoption or guardianship after parental rights have been severed.
