Alaska Joint Motion, Affidavit and Order to Bifurcate Divorce for Subsequent Determination of Paternity, SHC-153 is a form used by couples who are seeking a divorce in Alaska and need to determine the paternity of a child born during the marriage. The form, also known as the “Joint Motion for Bifurcation,” is filed with the court by both parties and requests that the court separate the divorce proceedings from the determination of paternity. This allows for the divorce proceedings to be finalized without having to wait for paternity to be established. The form must be signed by both parties, and a notary public, and submitted to the court for review and approval. There are two types of Alaska Joint Motion, Affidavit and Order to Bifurcate Divorce for Subsequent Determination of Paternity, SHC-153: Joint Motion and Affidavit to Bifurcate Divorce for Subsequent Determination of Paternity, SHC-153A; and Joint Motion, Affidavit and Order to Bifurcate Divorce for Subsequent Determination of Paternity, SHC-153B.
