The Alaska Petition to Register a Child Support or Spousal Support Order Issued by Another State or Tribe is a legal process that allows a custodial parent, or non-custodial parent, to have a child support or spousal support order from another state or tribe enforced in Alaska. This petition can be used to register an out-of-state or tribal order for enforcement in Alaska, allowing the custodial parent to receive payments from the non-custodial parent. The two main types of Alaska Petition to Register a Child Support or Spousal Support Order Issued by Another State or Tribe are: Direct Registration and IFSA Registration. Direct Registration is used when there is no existing Alaska Child Support Order in place and no child support case is currently open in Alaska. IFSA Registration is used when there is an existing Alaska Child Support Order in place or an open child support case in Alaska. Both types of petitions require the custodial parent to submit the out-of-state or tribal order, along with other required documents, to the Alaska Child Support Services Division. Upon receipt of the petition, the Division will review the documents and, if approved, register the order for enforcement.
