To qualify for PCS, an individual must have a medical condition, disability or cognitive impairment, and demonstrates unmet needs for: Three of the five ADLs with limited hands-on assistance. Two ADLs, one of which requires extensive assistance. Two ADLs, one of which requires assistance at the full dependence level.
The PCS program is designed to provide personal care services to qualifying individuals that need assistance in their effort to perform their activities of daily living that include bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting and eating.
Personal care is help with things like: bathing, showering, hair washing, shaving, brushing your teeth, and nail care. going to the toilet, catheter and stoma care, skin care, incontinence laundry and bed changing. eating, special diets, and food preparation.
Personal care services aim to help older adults with activities of daily living (ADLs). Activities of daily living include those a person cannot live without, such as eating, bathing, toileting, walking and dressing. A personal care provider can help older adults function throughout the day and keep them safe.
They include bathing or showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, using the toilet, and eating.
