You may complete Step #1 and submit an application electronically using this online form if you are applying for a new concealed pistol license. If you are applying for renewal concealed pistol license you are unable to submit your application through this page.

CPL Applications are Accepted In-Person by Appointment Only If your Concealed Pistol License is expired for one year or less prior to the date of application you are eligible to renew it. If your permit is expired more than one year prior to the date of application, you must follow the "re-application" process.

If your license is not renewed by its expiration date, you can still renew it up to one year after it has expired. If your license has expired for over one year, it cannot be renewed, and you must apply for a new one. This may require you to obtain a new CPL training certificate.

CPL renewal applications may be submitted online using instructions from a renewal reminder letter. These letters are issued six months prior to you CPL expiration date by the County Clerk who issued your most recent CPL.

Ing to Michigan law, there is no way to openly carry a firearm within a motor vehicle. As a result, it's necessary to have a valid concealed pistol license in Michigan in order to legally carry a loaded pistol in motor vehicles.

(1) A license to carry a concealed pistol, including a renewal license, is valid until the applicant's date of birth that falls not less than 4 years or more than 5 years after the license is issued or renewed, as applicable.

The pistol safety training course required under Michigan law must be a program certified by this state, or a national or state firearms training organization, and provide at least eight hours of instruction.
