Comments Section As of last June, a permit is no longer required to carry a concealed firearm in Florida. Short explanation is that if you would otherwise qualify for a permit, you may carry concealed without one. That means there are no special restrictions for carrying in a car.
The state is now “permitless carry.” A resident, or non-resident, of Florida is eligible to carry a concealed firearm in public if they would otherwise meet the eligibility criteria for obtaining a Florida concealed carry permit (see below).
Permitless concealed carry is legal for anyone 21 years old or older and not prohibited by law to carry a firearm. The Florida CWL allows holders of the license to carry not only a handgun but also other weapons such as electronic weapons, tear gas guns, billie clubs and knives.

Please be aware that by law the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has 90 days from the date on which we receive a complete application to either issue a license or deny the application.
First, understand that Florida does not allow for the open carrying of any handguns. If you display a handgun in a situation that cannot be legally justified as self-defense (ing to Florida Statutes 776.012 and/or 776.032), you could be subject to criminal charges. Starting July 1, 2023, new legislation takes effect in the state of Florida which authorizes a person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm pursuant to a valid concealed weapons license or without a concealed weapons license provided that the criteria for obtaining a license is met.
