Requesting a room change Room changes can be requested through your housing portal during our room-change periods. A room change includes moving to an open space in your current building or into an open space in a different building. Room changes are not guaranteed and are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

We understand that where you live is a central aspect of your first-year college experience. At The New School, all first-year students enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program at our New York City campus are guaranteed housing and are automatically signed up for on-campus housing for their first year.
On-campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis and the earlier you sign up the better your chances of getting one of your preferences.
