Nine out of every 10 freshmen at Maryland choose to live on campus. That's 9,450 Terps living in 37 residence halls that offer a variety of room types: traditional rooms, suites, semi-suites or apartment-style accommodations.

Process Overview Step 1: Complete the Residence Hall Housing and Dining Agreement. Submit your online application by p.m. on Monday, February 24 to participate in room selection. Step 2: Roommate Matching & Roommate Groups. Step 3: Make a Plan. Step 4: Select Your Room.
Students will be assigned a date & time to select their room assignment based on the date they applied for admission to UMD. All rooms will be on a first come first served basis.
Residential students are guaranteed housing for the upcoming academic year if they participate in Housing Selection (see below) during the Spring semester.
If you already have a roommate in mind, you can submit a roommate request by emailing us with your full name and University ID numbers. Both roommates need to email to ensure it's a mutual request.

For students under the age of 21, it is a violation of residence halls rules to drink or possess alcoholic beverages. For all students, regardless of age, it is a violation of residence halls rules to: possess or use alcoholic beverages in any common area of the residence halls.
