Clients can benefit for up to 60-months of WTW services and in some cases may even extend that time beyond 60-months. CalWORKs clients should talk with their county case worker if they believe they may qualify for additional time on aid.
The Hourly Requirement If you are single: 30 hours per week if there are no children under age 6. 20 hours per week if there is at least one child under 6. A couple must do 35 hours per week (adding their hours together), unless one parent is exempt. If a parent is exempt, the other parent needs to do 30 hours per week.

Most adults can get CalWORKs for 60 months. Even if you have "timed out" as an adult, your children can still receive payments. Months when the adult is exempt do not count toward the 60-month time limit. (See "What are Welfare to Work Activities and Rules").
You will not be required to participate in the Welfare-to-Work program and your Welfare-to-Work 24-Month Time Clock will stop if any of the reasons below apply to you. You are under 16 years old. You are 16, 17, or 18 years old and in high school or adult school. You are 60 years or older.
The maximum allotment for one person is $122 per month. The maximum allotment for a four-person family is $408 per month. In California the average amount of benefits per person is approximately $70 per month. The average amount of benefits per household is approximately $189 per month.
