The Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA) came into effect on December 31, 2023, and is one of the increasing number of statewide laws in the US that aim to protect the rights of consumers whose data is processed by businesses. On March 13, 2024, Utah enacted the Artificial Intelligence Policy Act ("AIPA"), which creates two types of disclosure requirements for a business or person that "uses, prompts, or otherwise causes" generative AI applications to "interact" with customers.
