The County's Woodlands Conservation Bylaw No. 7314, passed under the Municipal Act, regulates the destruction or injuring of trees within woodlands on private property to prevent deforestation, overharvesting and to promote good forestry practices. Richmond Hill's Tree Preservation By-Law 41-07 protects trees on private property with a trunk diameter at height (DBH) of 20 cm or greater. This By-law is an important part of the City's strategy to preserve our urban forest for the benefit of the community.
