While Little League Baseball, Incorporated, has been qualified as an exempt organization, therefore, its income is exempt and contributions to it may be deducted, such exemption does NOT cover any of the chartered leagues.
To be eligible for the MLB Draft, players must have graduated from high school and be at least 17 years old. College players are eligible after completing their junior or senior years, or if they are 21 years old. Junior college players can be drafted at any time.
A Little League Affidavit is a document that is used to verify the age and residence of a child who is participating in Little League baseball. It is typically completed by the player's parents or guardians and must be signed and notarized.
Starting with the 2025 season, children at the youngest level of the Little League® Baseball and Softball program (League Age 4-7) will have the ability to register for any Little League program they choose, without respect to any geography- or school-related eligibility requirements.
The draft rotation follows the reverse order of finish from the previous season, with the last place team's manager receiving the first pick. For example, in a four-team league, the team that finished last in the previous season would get the 1st, 8th, 9th, and 16th picks through the first four rounds.
We enter a single team in each age group: 10, 11, and 12 year olds. Teams that win the district tournament may go on to compete at sectionals. If the 12 year-old team wins the sectional tournament they will have the opportunity to compete at states and potentially the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.
The team with the best record in the regular season gets to begin the World Series (and potentially host Game 7) at their home ballpark regardless of playoff seeding. If two teams have the same record, they use a tiebreaker system based on the division tiebreaker rules.
Over the years, the MLB draft has ebbed and flowed with the number of rounds but in 2024 the MLB draft consists of 20 rounds. Teams are awarded their draft slot through a lottery unless the team made the playoffs in the previous year. If a team makes the playoffs, they are slotted into the draft based on their finish.
Little League World Series games consist of six innings. That means games are two-thirds as long as MLB, minor league, and NCAA baseball games. If a game is tied after six innings, it still extends until a winner is determined.
Players who have graduated high school but not attended college are eligible for the draft, as are those who have completed at least one year of junior college. Players attending four-year colleges are eligible to be drafted upon completing their junior year or turning 21 years old.
