The county is bounded on the north by Kendall and Comal counties, on the east by Guadalupe and Wilson counties, on the south by Atascosa County, and on the west by Medina and Bandera counties. The county seat and largest city is San Antonio.

Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) The ETJ is the unincorporated land within five miles of the City of San Antonio boundaries and includes all unincorporated territory that is not located in another city's municipal boundary or ETJ.

The Texas Coordinate System has been established by the National Oceanic Survey / National Geodetic Survey for defining and stating the positions or locations of points on the surface of the earth within the State of Texas. Each system is separate and must be used as such.
