FAQ

Have one side of the court as the 'kings side' and the other as the 'challengers side'. Remaining in the pairs the players have been in throughout the session the players must play first to 3 points. The kings always serve and if they win the first point then they automatically win the game.

The rules of badminton consider the following as faults: - If the shuttle lands outside the boundaries of the court, passes through or under the net, fail to pass the net, touches the ceiling or side walls, touches the person or dress of a player or touches any other object or person.

The outer sidelines are sometimes referred to as “outer tramlines” or “doubles sidelines”. On a regulation badminton court, the outer sidelines will run the full 13.41m /44.00ft length of the court. The outer sidelines are marked 5.18m (17.00ft) apart and run parallel to one another.

But the width differs with the singles court running wide till 5.18m (17 feet), denoted by the side lines, while for the doubles court, the width is extended to 6.1m (20 feet), marked as the doubles sidelines. The full court measures 14.723m diagonally.

The lines marking out the court are easily distinguishable and coloured white or yellow. The lines are 40mm wide. A court may be marked out for singles only. The back boundary lines also become the long service lines and the posts or the strips of material representing them are placed on the side lines.

The singles side lines are not the outermost lines, but the next ones in. Taken together with the outermost (doubles) side lines, these make narrow alley shapes along the sides of the court. These alleys are often called the tramlines or side tramlines, since they look like tram or train tracks.

Like the term, the boundary of the single's court is the inner line at the side, and the outer line at the end. If the shuttlecock hits outside the boundary, it is considered out, and the point is given to the receiver.

SCORING SYSTEM A match consists of the best of 3 games of 21 points (games cap at 30 points). Each game starts at 0-0. If the match goes to the third game that third game will be played to 15.

The opening moves have both players enter a piece onto the Court from opposing sides (no jumping yet). From that point on, a piece must be present on the Court at all times --otherwise the player loses. Pieces move as in Checkers except they all move as Kings (no restrictions on direction).
