Does the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit have any income limit? For tax year 2024, there's no upper income limit that would prevent you from claiming the Child and Dependent Care Credit, but keep in mind that your work-related expenses are limited to the lower of your and your spouse's earned income.
For tax year 2024, the maximum amount of care expenses you're allowed to claim is $3,000 for one person, or $6,000 for two or more people.
For tax year 2021 (the taxes you file in 2022): The amount of qualifying expenses increases from $3,000 to $8,000 for one qualifying person and from $6,000 to $16,000 for two or more qualifying individuals. The percentage of qualifying expenses eligible for the credit increases from 35% to 50%

But did you know you can claim adult dependents as well? In general, an adult that you can claim as a dependent on your tax return is either a full-time student under the age of 24, a person who is permanently and totally disabled, or a parent that you support and/or care for.
The Child Tax Credit is up to $2,000. The Credit for Other Dependents is worth up to $500. The IRS defines a dependent as a qualifying child (under age 19 or under 24 if a full-time student, or any age if permanently and totally disabled) or a qualifying relative.
The person can be your father, mother, grandparent, stepparent, niece, nephew, aunt, or uncle. The person can even be a son-in-law, daughter-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. The person must have less than $5,050 in taxable income (for 2024).
