If you file a dispute regarding information on your Equifax credit report, you can generally expect to receive the results of the investigation within 30 days.
Please send your statement in writing to Equifax, along with your name, address, date of birth and phone number. You will also need to provide photocopies of two valid pieces of identification. If you have the Equifax Unique Number from your credit report, that is also helpful. Equifax Canada Co.
If you think that there is incorrect information on your Equifax Credit Report, please go to the Errors on my Credit Report section to raise a dispute. As we don't own the data, we'll manage the dispute with the data supplier on your behalf. Once the dispute has been raised, the company has 21 days to respond to it.
Call 1-888-EQUIFAX (1-888-378-4329) from am to pm (ET), Monday through Friday, and am to pm (ET), Saturday and Sunday to have a Customer Care agent add your statement to your Equifax credit report.
You can call Equifax at 866-349-5191 and use the automated instructions to request a credit report, place a fraud alert or freeze your credit file. Use the option to speak with an agent to dispute.
You can also call or write the credit bureaus. Most credit experts will recommend writing the bureaus directly, so you can tell your side of the story and provide documented evidence, especially if you have a unique issue or complicated case to plead.
You can send a credit report dispute letter to Equifax, P.O. Box 740256, Atlanta, GA 30374-0256. Include this information: Name and current address. Equifax report confirmation number as seen on the report.
You have two options to submit your dispute documents. You can receive the form by email, complete it electronically and email all of your documentation to us. Or, you can print and mail in your completed dispute form and include copies of the required documents.
Alternatively, you can write to us at Equifax Limited, PO Box 10036, Leicester, LE3 4FS. Please include your name, address, case number, and credit report reference number (if applicable). We ask that you don't send us original documents as they may not be returned.
Your letter should clearly identify each item in your report you dispute, state the facts, explain why you dispute the information, and request that it be removed or corrected. You may want to enclose a copy of your credit report with the items in question circled.
