16 and 17-year-old minors enrolled in school may not work for more than nine hours in any one day, 40 hours in a school week, 48 hours in a non-school week, and six days in any one week.

If you live in Massachusetts, go to the school superintendent for the town where you live or go to school. Your superintendent may have designated someone in your school to issue work permits. If you do not live in Massachusetts, go to the superintendent of schools for the town where you will be working.
Teens under 16 cannot work more than 40 hours in a week, more than 6 days in a week, or more than 8 hours in one day. Even for those under the age of 18, working hours are limited to 48 per week, 6 days per week, and no more than 9 hours per day.
